Seven Excuses To Beat

Excuses are really just defense mechanisms to protect you from memories and fears of failure. Truth is, they are all just smoke screens. A bit of perspective can help you see more clearly. Listen above or read below. If you learn to get through the self-deception, you’ll find yourself stronger, happier and prouder for it.


1. "I don’t have the time."

What are you prioritizing over your own health, sleep or energy? There’s always time, its only a matter of carving it out. Carving may come with discomfort especially if you're really comfortable with the way things are...or are you?


2. “Now is not the time / I am not ready.”

This is particularly insidious because its a procrastinator enabler. Remember this: Someday is NOT a day of the week. Give your fears a deadline. Now is the time. And you may never be "ready," so you've got to decide. The present is the only time we have. Don't succumb, you got this; go for it!


3. "I don’t have the money."

The best exercises are free. This is true. Walking, wall sits, air squats, planks and push-ups are classics that are cheaper than a gym membership. If you don't have money for a gym try a free a meetup or make one!


4. "I am too old/ I am too young."

Tomorrow isn’t promised. If you don’t do it this year… right now...then when? Be the person that tried! Irene O'Shea jumped out of a plane at 102 years old. She broke records in 2017 and 2018! Josefina is 71 years old; she starts her morning at 3am, body builds, walks 6 miles and does yoga. Ernestine is 81 year old, body builds and inspires thousands with her incredible story. She started in her late 50's! It's not too late.


5. "I can’t do this myself."

You have more power than you know - you have more resources in you than you currently employ. So yes there is a lot you can do on your own because of how far you’ve already come. No, there may not be a stadium crowd cheering for you...but we're cheering for you!


6. "My physical appearance is holding me back."

This is not true. It's probably what YOU THINK other people are thinking. Replace those thoughts with the pride you'll feel when you're done with your workout. Focus on you. I know there are mean, fat-phobic and even racist people out there ...but that's not the majority. It's still a free country, don’t be denied.


7. "I am not in shape/ I am not smart enough."

Genius is 99% perspiration; that is, effort. Besides, everyone starts somewhere. And that somewhere is in your own body, in your own time. What you have today can be the beginning of what you build tomorrow. But you need to start: Sow Today And Reap Tomorrow. Whatever you have today is all you need to start. Even if all you have is a tiny mustard seed. Who knows you’re tiny seed may soon produce a giant beanstalk or even a lovely little flower. You'll never know unless you start!
