You Are What You Read

Did you know that reading exercises your brain in the same way that physical activity exercises the body?

Following a story and vicariously experiencing the emotions and actions of the characters stimulates the central sulcus region of the brain. It's where you’re able to feel and the anxiety, fear or excitement of a good book.

But if you are what you read, the next obvious question is … what are you reading?

Who’s ideas are you unwittingly putting in your head? How do they make you feel?

And what is the tone of your thoughts now vs what you what them to be?

Are they positive or negative on the whole?

It's important to be wary of malicious media and insidious information. Limit their influence on your mind. Replace the time with good uplifting books, stories or industry knowledge. Being online can be like a virtual assault of sight and sound, so limit the bad and focus whatever limited time you have on the good...a good book.
